Compare the DUROMATIC HOTEL 8 L and 12 L 28 cm pressure cooker bodies on capacity, handling, and batch-cooking needs to pick the right replacement or spare.
Quick answer
Choose the 8.0 L body if you cook for up to four people or want easier lifting; choose the 12.0 L body if you batch-cook, preserve, or regularly fill a large pot. Both share the same 28 cm diameter and handle set, so the real decision is usable volume versus weight and storage.
What changes when you step up from 8 L to 12 L
The two DUROMATIC HOTEL bodies differ mainly in capacity: 8.0 L versus 12.0 L, both at 28 cm diameter. Because the footprint is identical, the larger body takes the same hob space and the same lid compatibility, but it stands taller and weighs more when full. That extra volume is useful for stock, beans, or big batches, yet it also means a heavier lift when you move the pot to the sink or table.
The 8 L body is the more manageable everyday size for a family, while the 12 L body is aimed at large-quantity cooking. Neither body includes a lid in the catalog listing, so plan to use the lid from your existing DUROMATIC HOTEL set.
The trade-off: batch capacity versus handling
A larger pressure cooker body saves time only if you actually fill it. If you routinely cook half batches, the 12 L body adds bulk without benefit and takes more cupboard height. The 8 L body is easier to lift and store, but it can be limiting when you want to cook a week of stew or a large pot of beans in one go.
Handles are included on both bodies, which helps with carrying, but the weight difference when full is the practical limit. Consider where you will lift the pot and whether the lid you own is compatible before choosing size.
Decision trade-offs
- If you cook for 2–4 people: Pick the 8.0 L body: it handles normal family meals and is easier to lift and store. Measure your cupboard height before ordering to confirm the shorter body fits.
- If you batch-cook or preserve: Pick the 12.0 L body: the extra 4 L lets you cook larger quantities in one session. Check that your existing DUROMATIC HOTEL lid is compatible before buying the body alone.
- If storage or lifting is a concern: The 8.0 L body is the safer choice; the 12.0 L body is heavier when full and taller. Test the weight of your current full pot as a rough guide to what you can lift comfortably.
